Have you ever ask yourself what really matters for your Job?
Where you should have Focus on?
What is expected from this role?
I have made some experience I would like to share with you. This experience are based on my own work with different teams, but also from books like Scrum Mastery from Geoff Watts, Whitepapers from Barry Overeem and other inspiring articels on the web. My way to Certified Scrum Professional did also have Impact to this. Maybe there are some ideas you can benefit from.

Idea
Proportions in the following picture are not choosen at random. You-Team-Organization-Community. In this order I see the responsibility in the role of a ScrumMaster. You have to be ready for this Job, then you can bring your Team to success and out of your success you can help the organization to become better in agility. After all, the community is thankful, if you share your experience with others, so the agile movement can grow.
You - ScrumMaster is in the Center and is the most important part of it. You have to be sure to do this role without compromises (100% ScrumMaster). You are the architect of your own fortune.
Team - ScrumMaster's Job is to bring your Team to success.
Organization - ScrumMaster should have significant influence in how we Change the organization towards agile
Community - Share your experience with others. Tell your Story.

Later on this blog I am going to describe each of the small Picture what I understand behind. Maybe I can tell a Story about each of it.

ScrumMaster - ThatMatters Most important for a ScrumMaster is to look after himself. For you it will be essential to live what you belief in and hold the flag upright. You have to be agile, not acting agile. Working on your facilitator, teacher, mentor, leader role and striving for excellence. It is hard work, because of the diversity, but in my opinion the most complete role you can have. How you can do that? Read books, follow the world agile leaders, conferences, local community and most important experiment with your idea, inspect and adapt. For this, change your flight height to see more in the hole context, what is going on in your team and with yourself. If you read further, your will find the most important things in my opinion, that matters to you. There are more points to look after, belief me. What Scrum Master do, when they do not master Scrum

I am already had a similar post , but here I want to go for more options for the Scrum Master. In the meantime I came to another view to this theme. Where ends the Scrum Master role? Generally you can say, that if you do Scrum with perfect self organized teams, with high level of Agile mindset there is no more need for a Scrum Master. Everthing is mastered by the Team and Product Owner. The team organizes their dailies, do the retrospective to continuous adaption. The Product Owner do his job properly and organizes the Sprint Review and Sprint Planning 1. Responsible for Sprint planning 2 is the team. What do you mean? Where is the place for the Scrum Maser role? If a Scrum Master do his job well, then he is digging his own grave. But should not that fact be the driver behind the Agility. When a Scrum Master reach this point then he achived the highest Scrum Master Maturity (and could check all points of Great Scrum Master ). He is only needed punctually in the team. So to answer
